It’s official! I’m moving forward with my ideas and plans to start a YouTube channel. I’ve been working on it diligently for the past several months now– finding out everything that I can about it, creating banners, making other forms of contact (like this website for example), Twitter, Instagram, etc. All I have to do now is get a new camera. I hope to be able to start within a month or two.
Starting my YouTube channel along with this blog is a bit out of my comfort zone. It’s one of my faith moves for this upcoming year.
Of course any time that you start something new there is a great deal of anxiety that comes along with it because you don’t really know what to expect. Will my videos be boring? Will people actually watch them? Does anyone really want to hear what I have to say? Will it be a flop? The truth is that I don’t know what the outcome will be, but I’m determined not to let my fear of all of these things prevent me from moving forward.
I came up with the concept of creating a channel that is the equivalent of hanging out with your “bestie” or your closest friend. Think about it. What types of conversations do you have with your best friends? You all talk about a lot of different things. I would even venture to say that the conversations are quite intimate at times. But that’s what creates that bond– that closeness. Two people sharing their experiences, their feelings, their mistakes– growing together, learning together. And that’s the type of atmosphere that I want to create on my channel.
I’m only twenty-nine, but I’ve made a lot of mistakes in my life time. I’ve had quite a few experiences that I believe I can share with others who will benefit from learning from my mistakes.
Also, you don’t see a lot of that on YouTube. You see a lot of beauty, makeup, hair, OOTD, look books, DIY, etc. I think it’s a good thing sometimes to focus on the things within. In today’s world, more people care about what’s going on externally (on the outside) than what’s going on internally. We need to start caring a little bit more about the inward man than outside appearances. All of those other things are great too, but doesn’t your character, your growth, and your soul mean anything?
So why aren’t more people having these conversations?
I’m not here to judge. I watch a lot of those channels as well. I’m just hoping that I can make my mark, stand out, and that people will watch my videos.
What will your faith move be this year?
